What began with aluminum window frame design and manufacturing in Southern California, quickly became an opportunity to serve the burgeoning aerospace industry.
In 1956, Milon Viel and his father-in-law Ross Clarke embarked on a journey that would eventually redefine the landscape of Metal Cutting Service. Originally, the company's focus was on aluminum window frame design and manufacturing, but the winds of change were blowing in Southern California.
With their backgrounds in the aerospace industry, Milon Viel, who had previously worked for Douglas Aircraft, and Ross Clarke, who retired as a co-pilot and mechanic for Hearst Airlines in San Simeon, recognized the burgeoning opportunities emerging in the aerospace sector.
As the aerospace industry in Southern California experienced rapid growth, local businesses began to take notice of Metal Cutting Service's exceptional machine capabilities for metal cutting. They turned to Viel and Clarke for precision cutting of parts they couldn't produce themselves.
This pivotal moment led Viel and Clarke to see the potential for providing specialized saw cutting services to local machine shops and other businesses, fulfilling a crucial need in the region. Their commitment to quality and innovation drove them to invest in additional machines and diverse saws, ultimately leading to the incorporation of their business under the name Metal Cutting Service.
Fast forward to 1981, and a new chapter in the company's history was written when Milon's son, David Viel, joined the firm full-time after completing his college education. With a fresh perspective and a dedication to the company's legacy, David assumed the role of President in 1992. Since that pivotal year, he has been at the forefront of the firm's remarkable expansion, guiding it to its current levels of service, quality, and leadership.
Today, Metal Cutting Service stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of its founders and the ongoing commitment of David Viel.
